Bachleor of Medicine and Bachleor of Suregery (M.B.B.S)

 

About the Course:
 
          Kanyakumari Govt. Medical College is recognized by The Medical Council of India and this institution is affiliated with The Tamilnadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Chennai. The students complete a course of four and a half years followed by one year of a compulsory rotatory internship before applying for the degree. The course is divided into four parts with only the second part lasting one and a half years. Students take an examination (Theory and Practical )  at the end of each part.
            The First part comprises Pre Clinical subjects Anatomy,Physiology and Biochemistry.
            The Second part includes Para Clinical subjects Microbiology, Pharmacology, Pathology and Forensic Medicine.
            The Third part comprise Clinical subjects is divided into Part I and Part II.
                      Part 1 comprising Preventive and Social Medicine, Ophthalmology and Otorhinolaryngology.
                      Part 2 comprising General Medicine, General Surgery, Onstetrics & Gynaecology and Peadiatrics.
            The 12 months internship is compulsory to attain both the degrees and registration with The Tamilnadu Medical Council.
            First batch of 100 MBBS students joined in this institution on 18th August 2004.

Number of Seats:
  • 100 MBBS seats per year.
Eligibility Criteria:
 
  • Candidate should be Citizen of India.
  • Overseas Citizens of India who are registered under section 7A of the Citizenship Act,  1955 (Central Act 57 of 1955) are eligible to apply for MBBS courses subject to  the production of proof of such registration.

 
Method of Selection and Admission:
  • Selection will be made on merit basis of  NEET examination.
  • Selection committee will draw a merit list and the candidates will be called for counseling as per the merit.
Tuition fees:
  • As per the government norms. Tuition fees will be intimated during the counselling.
Hostel Facility:
  • Separate Hostel facility available for Boys and Girls.
  • Separate CRRIs Quarters for Male and Female.
Stipend:
  • During the CRRI period stipend will be provided for 12 months on monthly basis as per the Government norms.
